How do I paint when one wall runs through my living room and dining room?

I want to paint only my dining room but one wall runs from my living room to my dining room (this wall also divides the kitchen/dining room). Should I chose a color that will go good with both living room & dining rm, or can I paint a line down where it will divide the rooms (which I really don’t want to do)? Should I just do the rest of the dining room and omit that particular wall? Any websites for suggestions?

It would be very difficult to paint a line and make it appear even. You’re best bet is to use the same color throughout or add some kind of vertical molding that would separate the spaces and, thus, the colors. Not sure how that would look, though. Best bet– paint the same color.
You don’t paint a wall down it. You can select an entirely different color and paint that long wall thus turning it into an accent. You change colors when there is a natural complete boundary……different wall.
My professional painter did the line you discussed; he put it at a corner that broke up the two areas and however he did it, he got it almost perfectly straight – even with texture on the wall. Guess that’s why he’s a professional!
I’d be more likely to pick a color that pulls the two rooms together, especially as it sounds like one long straight wall; like I said, my wall did have a corner on it.
You wouldn’t want a line down the middle. You have to make the one wall blend with both rooms. Add the some different colors in the dining and a little different in the kitchen. But the common color of the one wall. Roxanne
No line! Either keep it all the same or make that one wall an accent wall with a different color (or a shade or two darker or lighter ) than the other walls.
